The Grudge was crazy and new to American audiences, at a time when horror was getting stale an uncreative here. Though it was very far from perfect, and the sequel made matters even worse, a lot of people liked it. Every one hated the screaming cat/kid thing as well.
Now you'll have a chance to see the clan at least one more time. Starring Scream Queens' own Shawnee Smith, The Grudge 3 is set to be released May 12th, 2009. At the moment, this is listed as a DVD only release, nothing has been said about a possible Blu-ray release (None of The Grudge films have been released on Blu-ray yet).
Of course I'll be seeing it, as I feel obligated to see every sequel and prequel, but this type of movie is sometimes hard to review... especially if it turns out so bad there are no words to describe it.
The synopsis: Jake, a character from Grudge 2 is in a psychiatric hospital after his family's deaths. The curse of the grudge then comes after him at the hospital. Jake's case worked (Shawnee Smith) investigates his old Chicago home as the curse continues to collect victims. Kayako's (The baddie from the Grudge) sister, Naoko, in Japan may be the only hope to stop the curse from claiming anyone else.
