Repo! succeeds in the areas many musical films fail, in that it has songs that belong on the radio, and a story that actually makes sense (For the most part). Trying to make a plot around pre-fab songs does not work (Though people still come in droves to see that "failure"). What works is when it is all from scratch... the music intertwines with the story, and feels right for the moment. What is just as likeable about Repo! TGO is the excellent cast that doesn't seem to struggle with either aspect of their role, acting or singing.
That's very uncommon, and welcomed. Darren Lynn Bousman has his finger on the pulse of what people want, and he certainly seems like he could be related to me, because absolutely everything he molds or has a part in producing is fantastic - in my mind. Let's hope that in the future he has less problems with the studios that release his product.
