Tank Girl

Uncovered Film Review

Tank Girl DVD Cover feat. Lori Petty
In terms of style, clothing and set design, Tank Girl is totally locked in on the 90's (The film was released in '95, but is set in 2033). However, some of the ideas about the future that Tank Girl proclaims have already been proven as dead on. Bluetooth, GPS, digital cameras and Wifi all make some kind of presence here, and none of them were freely available in the mid-90's. The movie isn't just about being stylistically amazing... it also takes care of it's subject matter, and the interspersed animation and frames from the comic book series are really something you never see in comic-based movies, which is crazy when you consider that.

Lori Petty as Tank Girl

Lori Petty is simply amazing... she was born to play this role - a simultaneously cute and sassy rebel who is always ready with a joke, even in the most inappropriate moments. If you don't give up instantly when the Kangaroomen show up in Tank Girl, you'll find the movie to be nearly perfect. This movie was destined to be a cult favorite, and it most definitely deserves it. Just let go and get ready for wackiness!
