Transiberian stars Emily Mortimer and Woody Harrelson as a married couple seeking some adventure by visiting China and Russia, among other destinations. Harrelson is a train fanatic, so it is his dream come true to ride on the railway. Mortimer is more or less along for the ride... she's a hobbyist photographer, and captures great shots along the way. At some point along the way, things start to go horribly wrong. You never can tell where this movie is going, because just when you think they've gone with the usual conventions of a dramatic thriller like this one, they flip the outcome and do something completely different.
My stomach was in knots for most of the film, because of the unconventional twists within. The film ends up being a bit too long, and it plays with your emotions a bit too much. But Emily Mortimer continues to give solid performances in her underrated career, time after time. As you'll find, I am a big fan of her work, and will feature many of her movies on Uncovered Films as time goes on. As far as Transiberian goes, it is this weeks Pick, and I can easily give it:
On Netflix | On IMDB
