How to Rob a Bank

Uncovered Film Review

How to Rob a Bank feat. Erika Christensen, Gavin Rossdale and Nick Stahl
How to Rob a Bank tries very hard to warm your heart, starting with two songs that not only tie into the movie perfectly, but also are great in their own right. "Working for the cash machine" by Hard-Fi and "Hungry like the wolf" by Duran Duran are the only two noticeable songs in the movie, out of four total. There also happens to be a very small cast, with most of the movie being set inside a bank and bank vault. So if you're going to go with a small cast, you had better make sure they are the best people for the job. And you better make sure that the plot is good enough to carry the movie, if all else fails. Unfortunately, Nick Stahl, Erika Christensen and Gavin Rossdale give extremely week performances in this film. The worst of their careers, likely. They're expressionless, Rossdale overacts and curses instead of line-reads, and they add nothing to the movie.

Let's talk about that plot though. I'm not one to normally notice small plot holes and story problems, but this movie is so riddled with them, you can literally see nothing else. The vault that is the talk of the entire movie is made to seem like it can't be opened... and then it opens. The guy calls *69, and the person he calls about answers immediately... twice! You can hang up on people who are on hold and then call them back while they're still on hold! Police ignore dead people lying on stairs and don't secure crime scenes... don't worry, we won't contaminate the scene with our SWAT team boots! I appreciate the effort put in to this simple movie, but after watching, I still don't know how to rob a bank, and I don't think the cast does either. Find a better heist film.
