For a first post, what could possibly be a better opener than the wonderful "Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer"?
By the look of the movie poster for Jack Brooks, you'll decide pretty quickly whether you plan to love or hate this movie. I would hope that you would at least give it a try, because you'd be surprised with this one. In this film, a plumber (Trevor Matthews) with temperamental issues is taking night classes for an eccentric teacher. One night his teacher asks him to do a favor and look at his new home's plumbing. Jack Brooks obliges, and from that moment forward, everything simply goes crazy.
The thing that's so lovable about this particular film is that the creators put such an effort into hearkening to only a decade or two ago when horror movies had more of a basis in prosthetic and makeup based horror. Over the years, it's divulged into total CGI, and horror fans have noticed this. Some CGI is fine, but you should NOT be able to tell when something is digitalized.
I can't and won't go into much more detail about Jack Brooks - because that would spoil too much of the fun. I'll only ask you to Seek this movie out now!
