His Name Was Jason: 30 Years of Friday the 13th DVD cover

Big news for Friday the 13th and Jason Voorhees fans, His Name Was Jason: 30 Years of Friday the 13th is getting a double release come 2009!

First, the Anchor Bay 2-Disc DVD version will be released on February 3rd, 2009. The film is a full length documentary covering all aspects of the long-running horror franchise, with interviews from... well - everyone ever involved with the movies at all :) It should be amazing to see the directors and actors behind the series, many of which have vanished off of the face of the Earth since their roles.

Not only will you see a DVD release, but Starz (The TV Channel, also free for PC users of Netflix.com) will have a showing of the documentary (I'm guessing without all of the special features on the disc release) on February 13th, the day of the release of Friday the 13th re-imagining.

If your head hasn't exploded, it's safe to say it will come February 2009, especially if you love the series as much as I do.

And to end, here's a bizarre interview with Jason on the Arsenio Hall show:

  2. No problem wings, I'm really looking forward to it since basically none of the early Friday the 13th's have any special features. It will be great to see some of the actors from the early films.
